Profile

Short biography

Originally a cognitive scientist, in 2018 I got a Dr. of Engineering in Theoretical Computer Science from Otto-von-Guericke University, Magdeburg DE. My PhD research was an interdisciplinary investigation of cognitive micro-patterns called image schemas and the role they play in creative thinking. More than half of my doctoral studies were spent at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano IT, where I also continued with a one-year postdoc focused on conceptual modelling. Between 2019-2020 I was engaged in a technology start-up project in Vienna on computational creativity for intelligent image manipulation.  However, since I was missing the curious environment in academia, in 2021 I returned to a postdoctoral position at the Institute for Artificial Intelligence at Bremen University working on commonsense reasoning for cognitive robotics. Later the same year, I got a position as a tenured Assistant Professor at Jönköping AI Lab at Jönköping University.

My main research interests concern the interdisciplinary aspect of cognitive building blocks that arguably are used by humans to structure their experiences into meaningful compositions and how this can be formally modelled and simulated for the advancement of intelligent systems and cognitive robotics.

If you are interested, please contact me, I am always open to new opportunities for collaborations!
